Area 01 of 06

Calling

Hear the assignment. Live the vocation.

What this is

Calling is the assignment God places on your work, home, church, and neighborhood. Not just a job — a vocation that fits the shape He made you.

Recognize the assignment God has given you — in your work, your home, your church, and your neighborhood — and steward it faithfully.

How it shows up

Two applications. One faithful life.

Work · Business · Career

Work as assignment

Your work is not a holding pen until something more spiritual comes along. It is the field God has handed you to steward today.

Whole-of-life

Whole-life vocation

You are a son or daughter, spouse, parent, churchman, neighbor — every role is an assignment, not a side project.

Common drifts

The quiet ways we drift here.

Naming the drift is not the same as failing. It’s the first faithful act of stewardship in this area.

  • Performing

You measure faithfulness by output instead of obedience.

  • Drifting

You stay busy without knowing what you've actually been assigned.

  • Comparing

You let someone else's calling crowd out your own.

The Steward Rhythm — in this area

Five movements, shaped to calling.

  1. 01

    Recognize

What has God entrusted to you in your work, home, church, and neighborhood right now?

  2. 02

    Examine

Where are you performing, comparing, or drifting instead of stewarding your actual assignment?

  3. 03

    Discern

What does Scripture say faithfulness looks like for the assignment in front of you?

  4. 04

    Act

What is one reachable, faithful next step inside one of your current roles this week?

  5. 05

    Review

Looking back: where did you stay faithful in your assignment, and where did you drift?

Example next steps

Whole, half, or quarter — whichever is reachable.

STEWARD will never shame you for choosing a smaller step. The next faithful step is the one you actually take.

Whole step

Write a one-page assignment statement for the next 90 days across your roles.

Half step

Write one sentence per current role describing faithful in it this week.

Quarter step

Name one role aloud and ask: what does God actually want me doing here?

Example tag · Name one current role and write a single sentence describing what faithful looks like in it this week.

Anchor Scripture

Rooted in the text.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
